TITLE
A Resolution of the School Board of Monroe County, Florida, Authorizing Staff to Coordinate with Monroe County Planning Regarding Upcoming Construction Projects in the Absence of an Official Interlocal Agreement
BACKGROUND
Florida Statutes require the School Board to obtain a "Consistency Determination" from the local governing body when a proposed development falls within their jurisdiction. A Consistency Determination is typically obtained through a coordination procedure specified in a Chapter 163 Interlocal Agreement with the local governing body. Although the School Board previously entered into such an agreement with Monroe County in 2003, the agreement has long since expired and will require significant revision before it can be reenacted. As the School Board has several pending construction projects, namely the new Transportation Facility on Stock Island, County and District legal have agreed to propose similar resolutions to their respective boards authorizing staff to coordinate with each other in the absence of an official interlocal agreement for purposes of obtaining a Consistency Determination on upcoming projects.
