BACKGROUND INFORMATION
According to Florida Statutes Chapter 595 School Food and Nutrition Services, attached, each school district must operate a summer nutrition program site within 5 miles of at least one elementary school at which 50 percent or more of the students are eligible for free/reduced-priced meals and for the duration of 35 consecutive days. Request exemption for non-compliance of 35 consecutive days from Willie Ann Glenn Act (WAG) as our district may not operate some sites more than 35 days as required for compliance with the Act. This issue is to be on the agenda and publicly noticed, providing residents an opportunity to participate in the discussion and vote on whether to be exempt from this section.
